Qualifications

In what ways am I different from my opponent?

The key differences for me would be my breadth of experience in setting vision and strategy and turning strategies into sustainable programs.  Specific examples of this local-level leadership in Frisco include:

  • As newly-appointed chair of the Frisco Housing Authority, I transformed the operation of a Federally-controlled local government entity by leading the resolution of 25 outstanding Federal audit findings ranging from lack of financial compliance to reporting deficiencies.  This Housing Authority is now recognized by the US Government as an example of a well-run, fully-compliant operation.
  • As the coordinator of the City-Council appointed Frisco Workforce Housing Committee, I facilitated a diverse group of 20+ real estate developers and community leaders through a year-long planning process that led to the creation of the City of Frisco Workforce Housing Trust Fund.  Today this fund provides homeownership assistance to families of modest means who currently work for the City of Frisco in some capacity and want to own a home in Frisco, preventing important tax revenues from going to neighboring cities and reducing commuting congestion.
  • As Frisco’s Downtown Coordinator, I worked with Downtown property owners to develop a tax incentive program that would reward both new and existing homeowners who invest private resources in preserving and protecting historically significant homes in Downtown Frisco.

My opponent and I are both committed to community service and volunteerism.  While I have been involved as a member of my daughters PTA organizations and volunteered to support those school events, my most involved volunteer commitments have focused on the following:

  • As Preschool Team Leader at Grace Community Church in Plano, TX, I work weekly to coordinate a team of 20+ amazing volunteers who minister to 120 preschoolers and their families each weekend.  Some of these preschoolers have special-needs and require a very different curriculum and environment.
  • As a parent of two inspirational dancers, I have served on the Advisory Board of the Collin County Ballet Theatre, focusing on fundraising, program development and backstage coordination.
  • As a mom of two budding cheerleaders, I continue to serve as the coach of an FFL cheerleading team, partnering with cheer parents and football parents, coordinating cheers, dances, weekly practice schedules, games, and end of year performances/competitions.
