Frisco Chamber of Commerce Candidate Forum
04/22/2008 20:43
A huge thanks to the Chamber of Commerce of Frisco
for organizing their Candidate Forum on Monday night
and for filling the room with so many interested
voters! The format was Q&A with opening and
closing statements. We had only 30 seconds to respond
to each question, and some good issues were brought
up.
Questions were submitted by the audience, and all the questions were very good -- even the question that I received asking "what have you done for Frisco education in the last 3 months."
In addition to being at both of my daughter's schools several times in recent months for various school activities, I have also met individually with School Superintendent Dr. Richard Reedy and School Board Members Buddy Minett and Renee Ehmke in which we have discussed various issues related to Frisco schools. I have also met with former School Board member Isabel Sem and variety of parents through community meetings where we have discussed issues of concern that they have about Frisco schools: overcrowding, rezoning/redistricting, special education, Gifted and Talented program, as well as the need to better involve parents in their children's learning.
My last 3 months have indeed been busy! But the opportunity that I have to make a difference in the lives of the people with whom I have met is one of the reasons that I am running for Frisco School Board.
